FAQ

  • Do you ship internationally?
Of course I do, silly! (But please do read the FAQ here) Falo português. Hablo español. Je parle français. Ich komme auf deutsch einigermassen klar.
  • How do I pay for my artwork?
I've built it as a functioning shop, but in order to take full advantage of Wix' functionalities, I will have to subscribe as a paying business customer, rather than a free user. (Also, I have no doubt they will charge a commission, for processing any sales made via the site) I'm not ready to do that yet, till I can gauge the interest in this platform. I'm a poor, struggling artist after all! If you are interested in buying an artwork, contact me at the addresses provided (either here or via email) and we will either arrange a bank transfer, or, I can also give you my Paypal information. Is that OK for now?
  • How will the work be sent to me?
It depends on the medium. The work on 80 g/m2 paper I tend to send rolled up in a cardboard tube. Works on thicker art paper will have to be sent in an envelope, either padded or between cardboard. This is a learning curve still for me so your patience (with me) is appreciated, but unless it proves impractical or indeed, too expensive, for now shipping over the world is covered within the purchase price (EXCEPT FOR FLASH SALES, and BARGAINS OF THE WEEK). I will ask to be paid up front, before I send. Perhaps on multiple orders we can review this if necessary. Also, at the very least within the Lisbon area, I can also arrange to personally deliver the work to you, so we can talk about that. My studio is in Seixal (Margem Sul / South Bay) so we can arrange a studio visit if that sounds fun to you!
  • How long will it take to get my purchased artwork in the mail?
That's a good question! Normally, people have received their work within two to three weeks (internationally), but we are at the mercy of the Postal Service. Furthermore, because of COVID restrictions, this can hold up the shipping process, but I hope by just a few days at the most. Basically I am a one-man shop, so I will buy the materials to send, go to the Post Office myself to mail the package, etc. I'll keep you updated, every step of the process.
  • What if I need, or want, for my purchase to be Fedexed, or send express mail?"
Such arrangements will be at the purchaser's expense in this case, and we will have to come to an agreement on the additional cost. Fedex has been my international shipper of choice, up to now. UPS in Portugal were a disaster!
  • What if I don't receive the package, or am not satisfied with my purchase?"
In this case, I of course would have to give a full refund of the amount you paid. However, this will take some time, as I may ask to receive the work here in Portugal, before I apply the refund. Sending the work back to me is at your expense, sorry. In the case of not receiving the package, I send all artworks registered mail. I don't know, but I don't think we can make any assumptions on the work's whereabouts for international destinations before a minimum six weeks. If you are aware your country's postal service is erratic, talk to me: perhaps we may have to send Fedex, or using an alternative service. This will be at your expense. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, I think I will need a legitimate reason for refunding your money. Right now, the only one I can think of is the purchase arrived significantly damaged. What "significantly" means, we will need to discuss: torn obviously, wear on the edges of the paper I'm not so sure. I'm a nice guy (mostly) so I'm certain we can figure this out amicably!
  • Please note, all purchases are in Euros..."
Whatever your currency, the amount shown in Euros here is final and non-negotiable. The conversion to your currency is not my responsibility. This work is available at - I think - a very reasonable price, and should maintain its value, and could in fact be worth increasingly more in the future, as I continue to grow and show, as an artist. In fact, your - much appreciated - investment in my work now, is another step towards my professional consolidation!
  • Why does the website feature work that has already sold?
I do this for a number of reasons. Perhaps most importantly, it may reveal another possible route to you, as the client, if you like my work but don't see something readily available that appeals to you. I do accept private commissions, but we will need to negotiate that privately. Furthermore, I think this site is also a useful public archive of my "penwork" as I tend not to show them fully on my main website (www.colinginks.net). I didn't realise I've done close to 80 of these works since 2018! (Even so, records of a few have been lost over time, and also, significantly larger works in these different media have not been included here).
